The Team Concept:

With SAAB left for dead by GM and the direction of new ownership still unknown, we want to remind everyone how BAD ASS they used to be... Born from Jets and all that.
Our entry for 2009 is a 1971 SAAB 99 we found abandoned next to a driving range. All we had to do was convince the State to let us have it.

We ran into a bit of trouble getting the off the boards this year.  By that we mean we forgot to apply to the race.
By the time we got around to it we were promptly rejected.  Logically, we rejected this rejection.

Our Team...

 Eric Nelson ...AKA Captain

By Day: UTC Power Project Engineer. Currently designing and building the emergency power fuel cells for New York's Freedom Tower. 30 years experience building SAABS for track.  Always on page with our good judges.

 Joshua Menke ...AKA Crazy
By Day: Runs the Performance Division at Bertera Subaru building custom high performance Scoobies.  People at the shop quietly shake when they find out he drives old SAABs.  His experience amounts to driving the team car up and down the driveway on Sundays before Wapner.

 Tim Remmers ...aka Crash

By Day: UTC Chief Engineer for Stationary Fuel Cells. Nationally ranked in SCCA Formula Vee.  Turn 4 walls are his enemy.

 Jeremy Pontbriand
By Day: Subaru Factory Service Technician. 7 year Ice oval/grass drag snowmobile racer (we hope it transfers...)

 KIP Moncrief ...AKA Shoe

By Day: Founder of SolShine Alternatives LLC and Connecticut BioFuels LLC. First to run the Carrera Pan-America on vegetable oil.  Who knew hippies could drive.

 JIM Moncreif

SCCA Miata driver like the rest of the free world.  A few hundred years of SAAB circle track experience seals the deal. ...and what a team player.

Josh Teresco

The newest member of our team.  Josh has a heavy resume of Saab racing experience.  This and those aviators made him a natural choice.

Make no mistake.  We Come to win.

SAAB is dead. Long live Team SAAB
